Day 6 - Birthday Alextravaganza

Well today was the big day...27. I have caught up with most of my friends (lol). Today was also the first day ever I took time off of work on my birthday...just the late afternoon. My mom happened to be flying to Crested Butte and was able to make her layover in Dallas overnight - so she got to be with me on my actual birthday (which hasn't happened in awhile)!!!! With Steph W. and Kelly we headed over to the Four Seasons for a fabulous afternoon of pampering....followed by dinner and flowers from Matt and the best part - my birthday cake was fondue! Thanks to everyone for such an amazing 6 days.

Day 5 - Birthday Alextravaganza

Today Matt planned for Kelly to take me to an early birthday lunch. So nice to get out of the office for a break in an otherwise hectic week. Dinner was one of my favorites, chicken chili (a winter dish I know, but still my favorite). Last day at 26!!!

Day 4 - Birthday Alextravaganza

Today Matt woke me up with a latte and a bagel, I had another long day at work, but got to come home to my favorite lettuce wraps and a surprise dessert...angel food cake! Joe was a big fan of the lettuce wraps.

P.S. A shoutout and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ryan W!!!!

Day 3 - Birthday Alextravaganza

Today's surprises included the best of "the usual". My special day included:
  • Morning latte (I am super spoiled in that my husband makes me morning lattes with our starbucks barista almost every morning!)
  • Einstein Bagel (what a treat)
  • Longgg day at work
  • Dinner ready when I got home, compliments of Joe and Kelly. They made homemade pizzas with my favorite - eggplant!!!
  • Sweetest part of the day was the cupcake Kelly got for me from cupcakery. Pink Lemonade. She tried to bring it to me AT work, but I didn't answer my phone. What great people I have in my life

Day 1 - Birthday Alextravaganza

As I was doing a little work this morning Matt came over to the table and handed me an envelope saying "this came in the mail for you." On the envelope it said "from your husband." I opened it up to find a sheet up paper typed up with "Saturday - Day 1 Birthday Alextravaganza. The itinerary read:
  • Sleep in
  • Coffee from the Cafe du Lunde
  • Shopping in the West Village (just the two of us)
  • Lunch at Grimaldi's (the two of us)
  • Dinner at Casa de lunde
  • Galaxy Drive in Movie Theater (with my choice of movies)
Needless to say I hopped in the shower and was ready to go. Matt insisted on starting at Ann Taylor Loft where I immediately found the shirt of my dreams at the first table. As I was admiring it and thinking "I just had to have it" a male voice says "Isn't that soo cute!". I turn around to see Steph and Ryan Wannemacher. They had been planning
it for weeks! Instead of shopping Matt made pedicure appointments for THE FOUR of us, followed by lunch at Grimaldis. The best part of the day was the company - and getting to spend time
with Steph and Ryan. I think we will make chocolate covered strawberries and bring vino to the drive in movie.

Roommates

My cousin Kelly and her boyfriend Joe have made the first step into the real world with relocating to Dallas. They have been staying with us for the last couple of weeks while they find jobs/apartments/learn their way around. It is going to be so sad when they leave - dinners are so much more exciting with four!!!

Also, a quick pic of our latest dessert! Saw this on Wilton.com

Fun times in Florida

A few weeks ago we took a week off and spent the fourth of July in Jackson with mom and Nathan. The boys golfed and my mom and I did some home remodeling. We changed Nathan's old room into her brand new craft room (complete with plenty of storage, flats screen TV, sewing set and cutting board), and the storage room upstairs into a guest suite. What success! Tuesday evening Brian flew in and Wednesday morning we left Lemmon with her grandma and headed to Gulf Breeze, Florida.

(Guest Room below - still waiting on beds, bedding and a few pieces of art work.)

Florida was just what we needed. Complete relaxation, good food and the Blue Angels. Brian took us to PegLeg Pete's for the best crab legs I have ever had. A few other highlights include: Water skiing, tubing, swimming, watching the blue angels rehearse from the beach and again on game day from "Grandpa's" boat, Cards, trips to Walmart, Omaha steaks, and NO OIL!!!

First Wedding Anniversary

On June 27th Matt and I celebrated an amazing first year of marriage. We went out in style with dinner at Capital Grille followed by the musical Wicked on Saturday. Sunday Matt surprised me with a 60 min massage followed by starbucks and house hunting - and in the afternoon we ate our cake (Gross!) and some chocolate covered strawberries.
