Tracey's "Roaring 20s" 30th Bday Bash

This weekend we had the pleasure of hosting (or rather co-hosting with Becky and Chuck) Tracey's 30th Birthday bash. She wanted a Roaring 20s Speakeasy theme - and that is exactly what she got! I am going to do a separate post on all of the little details, but they were all much appreciated by the fabulous birthday girl. Happy 30th Birthday Tracey!!!!!

We had the birthday girl arrive 30 minutes early so she could see all of the party details before the guests arrived!

Such a cute reaction

Decorations Details. There are live goldfish at the bottom of the vases - goldfish became very popular in the 1920s.

Matt and I went with super formal 1920s wear. Found this dress at LuLu Bees for $38!

Birthday cake was pineapple upside down cupcakes
We spraypainted a black canvas to look like a speakeasy door and had guests come around the back

Please notice the Speakeasy canvas I painted behind the drink station

Living Up Labor Day Weekend

Matt and I had a fun-filled Labor Day Weekend. We kicked off Saturday with Sam's 3rd Birthday (this wil get its own post!) and after racing cars (theme was Cars 2) we hopped in our own car and drove to Houston. This was Mark's first "holiday weekend" to host and he did a fabulous job! I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished as he enters the real world. It is so fun to know he is only a quick 3.5 hours away and we can make weekend trips to see each other!

We got to Houston just in time for kickoff of the LSU game. Appropriately enough Mark made homemade Jambalaya, homemade black bean salsa and Shelby made icecream cookie sandwiches! Food is never less that amazing when Mark is cooking!
Sunday morning Shelby made Matt's day by cooking cheese grits! After a hearty breakfast we geared up and headed to Mark's country club to play 18. His course is really challenging - skinny fairways and way too many obstacles (ha!) - but still fun.
Mark's Country Club - gorgeous!
Hard to tell - but my ball is in front of Marks....meaning I outdrove him!

And again!
One of many sandtraps that I played in!

After golf and cleanup we headed over to Brian's for "our usual meal" and the SMU game. Someone forgot to tell SMU that we were playing as we were completely destroyed by Baylor - but fun to see our team on TV non-the-less.
Steaks, grilled veggies, lobster tail, potatoes and asparagus

Monday morning before we hit the road to come home Mark had a bakery he wanted to test out! Great pastries!
We got home with enough time to sit for about 30 minutes and then head over to Chuck and Traceys for a Monday evening BBQ. The only picture I snapped was of this little adorable pickpocketer!!!! We ended dinner with game night and called it a weekend!

So now summer is over and the stores have Fall clothes out - even though it is still 100+ degrees!
