What a gentleman...

This past weekend Matt and I had a little weekend getaway in Houston (he was there for work) where the goal was to do nothing! Nothing turned into quite a bit of fun things and we had what may have been our most relaxing getaway yet! It started with flowers and Benihana's which turned into sleeping in, shopping, and steaks under the rain finishing the weekend with starbucks and seeing old friends. Matt had all of these special surprises picked out just for me - I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.

Little glasses of flowers were all over the hotel room.
Matt went in ALL the girly stores with me and didn't complain ONCE! I think having the ESPN app on his iphone helped a little. haha
You can't tell but it was raining cats and dogs...luckily except for the grills we could eat under the covered patio.
Matt is such a natural with kids!!
So fun to see old SMU friends Jean and Daniel - and their beautiful baby girls who I have been cyber stalking since they were born!! They are absolutely adorable!

Fancy Cameras Make Magic!!!

Over Labor day Karen let me use her fancy camera - and I LOVED it! I have already started a special savings to get one of my own :-) Here are three of my favorites from the weekend.

Happy Birthday Steph!

We got to celebrate with a Lundemacher date night last night at Painting with a Twist....maybe my new favorite place. It is a BYOanything-including-vino. So after dinner at Grimaldis we packed our cheese and crackers, grapes, wine and chocolate covered strawberries and enjoyed three hours of painting.

Each of us added our own twist to the night's "Fleur de lis" - especially Ryan!

Pony Up!

This past weekend we kicked off football season at SMU. Jared was in town so with Brian the four of us had a great time giving Kelly, Joe and Carissa the "SMU tailgate experience." We even got to sneak into the lobby of CM - where it all started!!!! Hard to believe our 5 year reunion is already here!

So fun to be on campus with these guys!
With Kelly and Carissa, trying not to melt.
In CM - just think 8 years ago we just a bunch of kids living on the same floor. lol
Go Mustangs!!!

Sam's After Party

Since we were in Wisconsin for Sam's birthday and couldn't attend his first birthday party (you should check out Steph's blog - she did an amazing job) we threw him a special party of our own complete with decorations, presents, Sam-friendly lunch and a monkey cake. We love that little guy!!!!

My monkey cake turned out to be a success!!!
Sam did a great job opening his presents by himself!
"Uncle Matt and Aunt Alex" - so fun watching this little guy grow up.
LOVED his smash cake - up until he had to get a wash down in the sink. lol

Back again at Cowboys Stadium

Matt and I have had a sweet string of luck the last two weeks. We found ourselves back again at the Cowboys Stadium, this time in another suite for the Superbowl Party/Tim McGraw concert. Again, great seats, and fee food/drinks at the Legends club. Midway through Tim McGraw we discovered our arm bands were all access and shortly later we were front row leaning on the stage (Alex getting a high five from Tim himself). Needless to say we are now Tim McGraw fans...big time!

Air Force One

Apparently Milwaukee was a popular spot to be for Labor Day. Matt's dad informed us that President Obama was in town so when we left on Monday we would want to get to the airport extra early for heightened security. We got through just fine and as we were sitting at our empty gate (empty bc we were so early), I looked up to see a few people taking pictures out the window. I got up to take a look and Air Force One was staring right at me. Regardless of my/your opinion of the president, it was pretty cool to see Air Force One up close and personal.

Birthday Week!

This week we have two special birthdays to celebrate: Sam and Brian.

Sam celebrated his first birthday this past weekend and we are going to have a little "after party" for him Saturday since we were out of town for his big birthday bash!

Brian's birthday was today - and although he tried, he couldn't get out of a celebratory dinner and dessert!

We love the special people in our lives!

Labor Day Vaca

For Labor Day we went to Matt's aunt and uncle's cabin in Mt. Morris, WI. It was a much needed break, and great getting to spend some quality time with family. Their cabin sat with Emerald lake on one side and the channel on the other. It felt like we were on our own island. Highlights included: Getting to wear a sweatshirt, morning walks to the coffee shop, paddle boating, swimming (it was quite cold), amazing homecooked meals, getting to use Karen's fancy camera (those pictures to come in another post), smores, campfires, catch phrase, and a peaceful setting to relax.

Did you know lakes are clear up North. Not like Texas...lol.

Glen, Fred, Matt and Karen - the first day was a bit cold...we LOVED it!
Beautiful blondes...

And their Italian significant others.

Work Perks

Matt and I got to experience the game of a lifetime on Thursday. The game itself was cool - but just a preseason game. The experience of a lifetime came from where we got to watch the game. Through work, I got two tickets to our suite, which just happens to be the touchdown suite on the field level. It felt like you were watching them in your own backyard. Matt got to catch 3 of the extra points when they came down from hitting the net. The free catering and open bar wasn't bad either. The bar has definitely been ridiculously high...and as you can all imagine...Matt was in HEAVEN!

Waiting to catch his 2nd extra point!
Some former cheerleaders came to the suite for a photo op.

Getting Heavy

Lemmon hit 47 pounds yesterday - we are getting close to 50. When she was a puppy both vets we took her to agreed she would probably top out at 40 max. Apparently not. Anyone want to guess her final weight?
Still loves to be held!
