Four Eyes

Well at 28 I finally bit the bullet and got glasses. The funny thing is...all these years I had no idea I needed glasses. About two years ago I went to the eye doctor because I was having a horrible time driving at night. I felt like I had no depth perception and caught myself slamming on the brakes for a red light...only to realize that I had stopped about 15 feet short. (Embarassing!) Not sure if I selected the best eye doctor at the time, but he told me I had 20/20 vision - just slow reflexes. So I continued on, no glasses, "great" vision and practically never driving at night. I came to assume I just didn't like it - not that there was any particular difficulty.

Fast forward to about 2 months ago. I was in my buddy Jason's office waiting for him to finish an email so we could head out to a meeting. I put his glasses on to make fun of him for "being old" as he nears 40 and hello KARMA! I looked out the window onto the interstate signs and they were SUPER clear. It was like looking at the world with HD vision. WTHeck! So I went to a different eye doctor who did all of these fancy tests only to tell me, yet again, "you have 20/20 vision." Before I could say BS she followed up with...but you do have astigmatism.

So now I have fancy glasses and driving at night is a breeze!
