Movie Review: Magic Mike

Saturday night was girls night, and we did what any fun loving group of girls should do on a night out together: piano bar, girly drinks, lots of appetizers and a movie. Let me clarify, a movie about male exotic dancers. I heard about the movie Magic Mike through people.com when they were interviewing my current celebrity crush, Matt Bomer. So naturally I see an article talking about Matt Bomer rocking it on stage as an exotic dancer and I'm hooked. Check out the preview, email the girls and we have a date. The best part about the night is that over the two weeks of discovering the movie and watching it (yes on opening weekend) our group tripled in size...and everyone had their own favorite "dancer". So what did I think? I thought it was pretty tastefully done, nothing super over the top. Could have used more dancing, more Matt Bomer (in fact I think he maybe had five speaking parts...lame), and less awkward close ups of the leading girl. I have always been pretty neutral on Channing Tatum, but I will say he can dance. Very impressed! Matthew M. did a good job, but it was crazy in the sense that for the first time, he seemed old and so far removed from the generation of the rest of the guys in the film. So should you see it? Why not! But you could probably wait for it to come out at Redbox!
