Ringing in Twenty Thirteen

Matt and I have some really great friends. And several of them were hosting really great parties and were gracious enough to invite us to ring in the New Year dressed up, in costume, or in PJs, surrounded by friendship. All of these activities sounded great to us. But what sounded the best for THIS year was a night in, just the two of us (and Lucky), some really good steaks, PJs and a movie marathon. And that is exactly what we did. The most hilarious part of the entire evening was Matt asking "Are we going to make it to midnight?" 2012 was quite a year with ups (and downs), and simply put...just really busy. So as we prepared to say adios to 2012 and hello there to 2013, we felt snugging with the fire, full bellies and a few new movies would suit us just fine!

Cheese and crackers, sparkling water, beer that actually said Happy New Year, AMAZING steaks, potatoes, veggies and a pint of Crazy Cookie Dough ice cream!

Snuggled with Matt in our sweats!

Well we made it to midnight, sealed the New Year with one heck of a kiss and went to bed with sweet dreams of 2013. Well, technically I took some nighttime cough medicine - probably the reason for all the dreams.

Superstitions. How do you feel about them? I am generally neutral. I mean, occasionally I will "knock on wood" or just plain not say something, but on a day to day basis, I would not consider myself superstitious. I do think it is interesting to be in the year 20"13". Luckily (I hope) for us, that is Matt's lucky AND favorite number, so I have my fingers crossed for a lucky (or rather, blessed) year. Luckily for me, I am not that superstitious because 2013 was off to an interesting start: a $200 emergency visit to the vet. Lucky has an eye infection and now some very expensive eyedrops and a cone. (That and the EmergenC I have been drinking as if it were going to perform a miracle - did not come through...full.blown.cold.)

But at the end of the day we did make it to breakfast at Chase and Halies, Matt had a blast at the football game he went to (is it really sad that I don't even know who was playing?), and I got all the Christmas decorations put away with some good old fashioned organizing on the side.

So - I guess that while the morning started out iffy - the day turned out not so bad. Let's do this 2013! Matt and I are ready to ROCK YOU!

Poor Lucky and her cone
Matt and Chase - and their $13 Groupon tickets! Not bad boys.
