Ringing in Twenty Thirteen

Matt and I have some really great friends. And several of them were hosting really great parties and were gracious enough to invite us to ring in the New Year dressed up, in costume, or in PJs, surrounded by friendship. All of these activities sounded great to us. But what sounded the best for THIS year was a night in, just the two of us (and Lucky), some really good steaks, PJs and a movie marathon. And that is exactly what we did. The most hilarious part of the entire evening was Matt asking "Are we going to make it to midnight?" 2012 was quite a year with ups (and downs), and simply put...just really busy. So as we prepared to say adios to 2012 and hello there to 2013, we felt snugging with the fire, full bellies and a few new movies would suit us just fine!

Cheese and crackers, sparkling water, beer that actually said Happy New Year, AMAZING steaks, potatoes, veggies and a pint of Crazy Cookie Dough ice cream!

Snuggled with Matt in our sweats!

Well we made it to midnight, sealed the New Year with one heck of a kiss and went to bed with sweet dreams of 2013. Well, technically I took some nighttime cough medicine - probably the reason for all the dreams.

Superstitions. How do you feel about them? I am generally neutral. I mean, occasionally I will "knock on wood" or just plain not say something, but on a day to day basis, I would not consider myself superstitious. I do think it is interesting to be in the year 20"13". Luckily (I hope) for us, that is Matt's lucky AND favorite number, so I have my fingers crossed for a lucky (or rather, blessed) year. Luckily for me, I am not that superstitious because 2013 was off to an interesting start: a $200 emergency visit to the vet. Lucky has an eye infection and now some very expensive eyedrops and a cone. (That and the EmergenC I have been drinking as if it were going to perform a miracle - did not come through...full.blown.cold.)

But at the end of the day we did make it to breakfast at Chase and Halies, Matt had a blast at the football game he went to (is it really sad that I don't even know who was playing?), and I got all the Christmas decorations put away with some good old fashioned organizing on the side.

So - I guess that while the morning started out iffy - the day turned out not so bad. Let's do this 2013! Matt and I are ready to ROCK YOU!

Poor Lucky and her cone
Matt and Chase - and their $13 Groupon tickets! Not bad boys.

Lovin' Lucky

It has been awhile since I have posted a few pics on here just of Lucky. And as we celebrated the one year mark of adopting her just before Thanksgiving, I feel like it is appropriate to give the Luckster her very own post! She has been the perfect addition to our family over the past year.

This picture was half posed. I found her lying with her head on the pillow so I just bundled her up and let her nap. Can we say...adorable!

One morning I came out of the shower to find her curled up on my pillow. This behavior I did not encourage. lol!

Mornings are so sweet. She has recently started insisting on snuggling in the brown recliner.

I was working one night and set the computer on the couch, started typing and a few minutes later, this little head appeared snuggled against the pillow.

Luckily we keep her extremely clean! Otherwise this situation would be problematic.

At the end of the day, Lucky just wants to be near people.

81 degrees

UNBELIEVABLE weather today! After weeks of 100+ degrees, today, out of the blue was gorgeous! Matt stopped at the grocery store on the way home to pick up the ingredients to make burgers and we sat outside, relaxing, enjoying the weather and each other!

God Bless America

Happy Birthday U.S.A.

I am definitely proud to be an American!

I feel like Matt and I were pretty American today...shopping for an SUV (didn't buy anything yet), pool and BBQ!

I was incharge of dessert for the BBQ - I made the strawberries and had grandious plans for some amazing homemade cookies - but ran out of time....so I cheated and bought them from Target!

Even Lucky had a red, white and blue bow!

Thanks for hosting Mark and Julie!!!!!

3 Times the Fun

Prior to bringing Lemmon into our lives I was deathly afraid of dogs. And it didn't matter the size, breed, age - nothing...scared of THEM ALL! But as we have started to bring dogs into our lives - I have eased up a lot and actually started to like other dogs besides my own. So when Tracey asked if I could dogsit in a pinch - my first reaction was - "yikes, 3 dogs in my house...I don't know" - but I wanted to help out and I thought it could be good for Lucky who is still continuing to get used to other dogs. (I think she must have gotten beat up at the shelter because she is so scared of other dogs.)

So Tracey dropped the dogs off and kept her two in my bathroom until I got home from work. I was really nervous to let everyone out of the cage because it was just me that weekend and I didn't know how everyone was going to react. Well...they did famously and I think when Jazzy and Bandit left on Sunday Lucky was actually a little sad!

Friday night I still had work to do and the little pup INSISTED on sitting on my lap. Lucky was NOT having it so she came over and sat right under me. She got used to it after awhile though.
And then we had to work through other dogs getting to sit on the couch.

But by the end of it - this is where we were!!! So proud of Luckster!!!

Tracey - Lucky and I would love to dogsit anytime!!!
